The Payments Platform team converts complex global payment challenges into seamless infrastructure aiding in payment acceptance and processing across various markets.
Role Summary
The Engineering Director will lead teams that develop and maintain critical components of the Payments Platform. This position blends leadership with technical vision, requiring ownership of delivery and strategy to ensure the platform supports scalable, reliable, and commercially effective payment solutions worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the strategic roadmap and architecture for the Payments Platform, including processing, routing, settlement, reconciliation, and partner integration capabilities.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to Engineering Managers and senior engineers, fostering a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and team growth.
- Set architectural standards for mission-critical systems ensuring reliability, security, scalability, observability, and enhanced developer productivity.
- Manage multiple projects with focused OKRs, ensuring timely delivery and balancing immediate needs with sustainable platform maintenance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Risk, Compliance, Commercial, and regional engineering teams to align platform developments with business and regulatory goals.
Qualifications and Experience
- Over 10 years of software engineering background with at least 5 years in engineering leadership roles.
- Proven success in managing managers and scaling high-performing engineering teams.
- Strong product insight with experience partnering with Product Management to set priorities and roadmaps.
- Expertise in software architecture and designing distributed systems at large scale.
- Experience thriving in dynamic, high-growth environments valuing ownership and rapid execution.
- Background in fintech, payments, financial services, or regulated sectors prioritizing accuracy and data integrity.
