Role Summary

This role offers a chance to assist in supervising the electrical department at the Macraes processing plant and open pit mine. The Electrical Supervisor will support the Senior Electrical Supervisor in leading both internal teams and subcontractors to maintain electrical systems’ reliability across the plant and surface facilities, aiming to optimize operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead electrical maintenance activities within set budgets and timelines according to maintenance workflows.
  • Coordinate electrical maintenance for the Processing Plant and Surface Mining Departments following preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Implement and supervise scheduled maintenance including instrumentation, PLCs, and Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
  • Develop and review preventive maintenance for critical plant equipment.
  • Assist in creating procedures and work packs for routine and shutdown maintenance tasks, covering job planning, training, permits, and safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, metallurgical, operational, and mining teams as needed.
  • Support coordination of electrical contractors on site alongside the Senior Supervisor.
  • Work with stores staff to ensure timely procurement of equipment and optimize inventory levels and spare parts quality.
  • Provide estimates and cost information for new projects or modifications when requested.
  • Manage leave and maintain rosters to guarantee continuous electrical coverage.
  • Develop Scopes of Work for effective planning and scheduling.
  • Lead, coach, and develop your team members.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders and external contractors.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Formal trade qualification in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of post-apprenticeship experience in processing or heavy industry environments.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in mining or equivalent heavy industry.
  • Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated expertise with instrumentation, PLCs, and control systems.
  • Experience with maintenance scheduling and planning is beneficial.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a manual vehicle.
