Job Overview
This full-time, permanent position primarily involves working Monday to Friday during daytime hours, with occasional night or weekend shifts depending on client demands. Overtime opportunities may also be available. The role starts and ends at the depot and involves driving to deliver and collect rail plant equipment within the region.
Key Duties
- Transporting rail plant equipment to and from customers safely and punctually.
- Inspecting equipment for any damage and accurately recording findings.
- Operating mobile PDA devices for delivery tasks, including scanning asset tags.
- Performing labour and general yard maintenance duties at the depot, such as organizing and loading vans.
- Participating in night and weekend shifts that may require setting up lighting and operating trackside machinery.
Candidate Requirements
- Possession of a full UK driving licence.
- Experience with multi-drop driving routes.
- Physical fitness adequate for handling rail plant and manual tasks.
- Ability to successfully complete the Network Rail standard medical assessment (arranged by the employer).
- Comfortable using mobile technology like PDAs or tablets.
- Strong customer service skills with a personable attitude.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts including nights and weekends.
- Prior experience with rail equipment or small plant machinery is advantageous but training will be provided.
- Having Personal Track Safety (PTS) certification is preferred.
