Fleet Maintenance Overview

The Fleet & Protective Equipment team at CFA is responsible for maintaining a critical fleet of more than 2000 firefighting and specialized vehicles and equipment, essential for responding to emergencies.

Role Summary

As a District Mechanical Officer, you will utilize your expertise in preventative and corrective maintenance within a clean, well-equipped environment. Our 13 workshop locations include Bairnsdale, Ballarat, Cranbourne, Geelong, Horsham, Kangaroo Flat, Moe, Mt Evelyn, Seymour, Shepparton, Swan Hill, Wangaratta, and Warrnambool.

Your duties involve performing mechanical tasks under the guidance of the Officer-in-Charge, ensuring compliance with safety standards and CFA maintenance policies.

Main Responsibilities

• Maintain fleet assets according to industry standards and CFA’s specific maintenance procedures.
• Keep precise records and documentation of all work performed.
• Create electronic work orders using CFA’s software systems.
• Communicate with Brigade members regarding scheduled and completed maintenance work.
• Report maintenance, administrative, and technical matters to the Officer-in-Charge.
• Adhere strictly to industrial safety regulations.

Candidate Requirements

• Possess a Motor Mechanic qualification.
• Hold a Heavy Rigid Driver Licence or be willing to obtain it within CFA's specified timeframe.
• Capability to maintain safety at incident scenes and assist others, including First Aid Level 2 certification (which may be obtained within CFA's timelines).
