About Awayday Vacation Rentals
Awayday is a private equity-backed multi-brand platform focusing on vacation rentals and hospitality services, partnering with founder-led businesses across 13+ U.S. states and supporting 55+ brands with 1,800+ employees. The company combines mergers and acquisitions, organic growth, and operational excellence, emphasizing leadership quality and strategic talent acquisition.
Role Overview
This role entails building Awayday's enterprise-grade Talent Acquisition function from the ground up to support expansive growth. It reports to the VP of HR and works closely with executives to secure a leadership pipeline including Brand Presidents, Regional Vice Presidents, and Owner Relations leadership initially, extending to Revenue Management and Business Development as the company scales.
The ideal candidate is a principle-driven consultant with a strong background in Talent or HR consulting from a major firm, adept at deconstructing complex problems and designing original recruitment strategies. Preference is for candidates with sales operations consultation experience rather than solely traditional recruiting expertise.
Responsibilities
- Establish and lead the Talent Acquisition department, designing strategies, processes, and infrastructure such as ATS and sourcing tools from scratch.
- Develop a hands-on and scalable recruiting team, implementing employer branding and candidate experience aligned with company culture and values.
- Lead end-to-end recruiting for senior operational roles and build proactive sourcing strategies and pipelines.
- Act as a strategic partner to executive leadership, providing insights on talent markets, hiring best practices, and reporting key recruitment metrics.
- Manage relationships with external search partners to ensure effective talent acquisition ROI.
- Extend recruiting efforts to additional functional areas and support M&A integration by assessing leadership talent.
- Continuously refine recruitment processes based on data analysis and business needs.
Qualifications
- Professional consulting experience in Talent or HR with a major consulting firm, minimum 6+ years of relevant experience.
- Proven track record leading or building recruiting functions in distributed, multi-site, or service-oriented environments.
- Experience working in smaller to mid-sized companies owning comprehensive outcomes, especially in private equity-backed contexts.
- Bachelor's degree required.
Required Skills
- Advanced sourcing expertise across LinkedIn, direct outreach, networking, and passive candidate engagement.
- Proficiency with ATS systems, recruiting analytics, and modern sourcing technologies.
- Capability to evaluate leadership potential, organizational fit, and cultural alignment.
- Strong process design aptitude aimed at creating scalable recruiting systems.
- Data-driven decision-making to track recruiting efficiency and impact.
Preferred Attributes
- Ability to break down complex, ambiguous challenges into structured solutions.
- Builder mindset energized by creating new initiatives rather than maintaining existing ones.
- Ownership mentality with proactive drive to achieve hiring goals.
- High-level executive presence and communication skills suitable for collaboration with senior management.
- Balanced decisiveness with thoughtful considerations and persistence in recruiting top-tier talent.
- Alignment with Awayday’s core values: Servant Leadership, Ownership Mentality, Local Focus, and Excellence.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive salary aligned with experience.
- Annual performance-based bonus linked to recruitment success and company results.
- Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision coverage, and 401(k) plan.
- Flexible remote work environment supporting travel as necessary.
