Role Overview
The Director of Facilities is a leadership role based full-time at the Corporate Headquarters in Louisville, involving frequent travel across a five-state service region. This newly created position centralizes facilities oversight which was previously handled individually by each site. The Director is accountable for ensuring the safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance of all properties, including adult day health centers in Kentucky and Pennsylvania, and leased office properties spanning Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee.
Key Operational Areas
- Facility maintenance and safety: implementing preventive maintenance programs, conducting monthly walkthroughs, managing repairs, renovations, and audit preparations at all locations.
- Transportation and fleet management: overseeing maintenance, routing, driver safety, and compliance with regulations related to the adult day health centers' vehicles.
- Kitchen and food services: managing operations at all centers to meet nutritional guidelines, food safety protocols, and cultural expectations of served populations.
- Lease administration: managing landlord relationships, lease renewals, and strategic portfolio planning for the administrative offices supporting organizational growth.
Daily Functions
The Director supervises all on-site facilities personnel such as drivers, kitchen teams, and maintenance technicians, while also handling vendor and contractor relationships. Responsibilities include scheduling preventive maintenance, overseeing capital improvement projects, managing budgets and expenditures, and ensuring high-quality environments for clients and staff. Collaboration with clinical and operational leaders is critical to align service delivery with consistent facility standards and swiftly address facility issues.
Qualifications
- Experience managing multi-state facilities, preferably in settings like adult day healthcare, skilled nursing, assisted or independent living.
- Proven capabilities in facilities management for multi-site healthcare or human services environments.
- Leadership skills to manage recruiting, training, scheduling, and evaluating site-based facilities staff (maintenance, drivers, kitchen personnel).
- Knowledge of fleet operations, vehicle maintenance, and DOT regulations.
- Experience managing food service operations and health compliance in congregate or healthcare settings.
- Expertise in commercial lease administration including renewal processes and landlord coordination.
- Competency in budget preparation, cost control, and managing capital expenditures related to facilities.
- Strong understanding of preventive maintenance, asset management, inspections, and servicing of equipment and building systems.
- Familiarity with building codes, safety standards, ADA compliance, and other healthcare/community-based regulations.
- Ability to coordinate vendors and contractors with negotiation and oversight skills.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication abilities with capacity to prioritize urgent facility needs.
- Preferred background in senior services, healthcare, or Medicaid-related organizations; bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Business, Engineering, or related field is advantageous.
