Director of Accounting, Financial Operations

Overview

Join a leading global technology company as the head of a high-performing Accounting Operations team in Auckland's brand-new CBD office. Reporting directly to the CFO and collaborating closely with executive leadership, you will manage experienced accounting professionals to achieve key financial objectives within a fast-paced multinational environment. This senior leadership role focuses on optimizing Billing, Accounts Payable, and Payroll functions, driving operational excellence across the accounting department.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operational accounting activities relating to Accounts Payable, Billing/Accounts Receivable, and Payroll by leveraging technology and continuous process improvements to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
• Collaborate with Human Resources to maintain employee benefits compliance and accuracy, including managing the annual US 401(k) audit.
• Ensure operational accounting functions maintain high standards of control and reporting effectiveness.
• Partner with the Director of Accounting and Reporting and Group Controller to support monthly close procedures, board reporting, lender obligations, and the annual audit process, leading coordination for AR, AP, and Payroll testing.
• Provide financial advisory support for management decision-making based on data analysis.
• Assist in the forecasting and budgeting process with emphasis on Operating Expenses.
• Support various Group functions by overseeing their financial performance.

Candidate Profile

• Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with 6–8 years post-qualification experience in large, complex organizations with global operations.
• Strong expertise in accounting, people leadership, and stakeholder engagement.
• Self-motivated and autonomous with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Demonstrates proactive problem-solving, innovation, and sound professional judgment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills suitable for engagement across diverse teams and senior management.
• Experience with US accounting standards is highly regarded.
• Technologically proficient, with experience in Zuora, Salesforce, NetSuite, ADP, and Ramp considered advantageous.
