Design and Development Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a Design and Development Engineer with expertise in sheet metal design and production processes to join Elite Auto Engineers Private Limited in Delhi-NCR. This role involves handling 2D/3D design tasks, prototype development, cost optimization, and providing production support to ensure efficient product development.

Key Responsibilities

• Create 2D and 3D designs using software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Design sheet metal components including bending allowances and development calculations.
• Develop fixtures and jigs as required for manufacturing processes.
• Oversee prototype development and coordinate with production teams.
• Optimize material usage, improve nesting for laser cutting, and minimize scrap and inefficiencies.
• Review customer drawings to identify missing dimensions, tolerance issues, and feasibility concerns.
• Support the transition from development to production by resolving shop floor issues related to fitment, welding, and assembly.
• Prepare Bills of Materials (BOM), process sheets, and manage documentation revision and tracking.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Lead time for development: 7 to 10 days per part.
• First-time approval rate should be at least 90%.
• Achieving a cost reduction of 2 to 5% each quarter.
• Zero tolerance for design-related rejections.
• Ensure drawings are accurate with no missing dimensions or tolerance errors.

Required Skills and Expertise

• In-depth knowledge of sheet metal design and fabrication.
• Proficiency in bending and development calculations.
• Understanding of welding and assembly processes.
• Basic familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Experience using AutoCAD and SolidWorks software.
• Proficiency in MS Excel for BOM preparation and costing.
• Strong practical understanding of shop floor operations and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to execute tasks rapidly and efficiently.

Hiring Details and Roles

• Seeking a hybrid engineer skilled in design and production process knowledge rather than purely software expertise.
• Recommended positions include one Senior JDE with a salary range of ₹40,000 to ₹50,000 per month and one Junior JDE with a salary range of ₹20,000 to ₹25,000 per month.
