Data Scientist

About the Role

SBS Transit Ltd, a key player in the ground passenger transportation industry located in Singapore, is seeking a Data Scientist to spearhead the creation and implementation of sophisticated analytics and AI technologies. The goal is to improve public transport operations, ensure asset reliability, optimize maintenance, and enhance the commuter experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the complete lifecycle of machine learning and artificial intelligence projects, including defining business challenges, exploring data, engineering features, training and validating models, deploying solutions, and monitoring performance.
• Design and deploy ML, AI, and optimization algorithms to solve diverse operational and business problems such as forecasting demand, boosting performance, optimizing resource allocation, improving reliability, and advancing customer satisfaction.
• Work closely with data and software engineers to integrate AI models into production environments, both isolated (air-gapped) and cloud-based.
• Promote experimental approaches and continual development utilizing advanced AI methods including time-series forecasting, anomaly detection, computer vision, and natural language processing.
• Deliver actionable, data-supported insights and business recommendations to stakeholders.
• Partner with Business Analysts to identify, evaluate, and prioritize impactful AI use cases relevant to SBS Transit's operations.
• Oversee AI project management and maintain the underlying AI infrastructure.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, statistics, data analytics, applied mathematics, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of eight years' relevant experience in data science, including at least two years in a senior or lead technical position.
• Expertise in Python, Nifi, Airflow, SQL, as well as libraries and frameworks such as pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch.
• Familiarity with MLOps platforms including Databricks, Snowflake, and AWS Sagemaker.
• Proficiency in data visualization tools like Power BI, Qlik, and Tableau.
