Job description
Overview
This role requires a candidate with over three years of experience managing and analyzing data center systems, hardware, network infrastructure, and troubleshooting methods. The environment involves enterprise-class network environments with various technologies like Ethernet, TwinAx, token ring, SAN, and wide area connections. An understanding of WAN protocols, subnetting, and TCP/IP is essential. Strong communication skills and familiarity with ticketing systems, change management, and project methodologies are also critical. Knowledge of the financial services sector is advantageous.
Primary Duties
- Install, relocate, and remove network and distributed system hardware including routers, switches, and security devices within Americas Data Centers, adhering strictly to internal SLAs.
- Manage the setup, removal, extension, and testing of carrier circuits connecting to network hardware.
- Handle patch cabling installation and relocation for systems and network devices.
- Oversee the installation and movement of Data Center equipment.
- Coordinate power cabinet, circuit, and patch cabling installations by collaborating with facilities, electrical, and communications vendors.
- Assist in network hardware configuration management.
- Organize and install SAN cabling infrastructure.
- Administer network port management and maintain inventory of consumables such as cables, labels, and mounting kits.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of direct experience with data center hardware, communications technologies, and facility environments.
- Familiarity with enterprise data center components including PDUs, RPPs, network and SAN infrastructure.
- In-depth understanding of complex network technologies including switched/routed Ethernet, TwinAx at multiple speeds, token ring, SAN, and wide area connectivity.
- Solid grasp of WAN tech such as OC-x, DS-x, subnetting, and TCP/IP protocols.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Experience with trouble ticketing, change control processes, and project lifecycle tools.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills related to system, telecommunications, and data center facility challenges.
- Project management experience is a plus.
- Industry experience in financial services is beneficial.
