About the Role
Join Google's Hardware Operations team to maintain and optimize the advanced infrastructure supporting Google's search technology. As a Data Center Technician, you will install, configure, troubleshoot, and service server hardware and software, including complex components such as networks and routers within a data center environment. The position involves manual handling of equipment and requires collaboration for problem-solving and project leadership.
Responsibilities
- Lead and participate in deployments, maintenance, and support of cloud data center infrastructure within Google Cloud regions.
- Handle escalated technical issues by troubleshooting and resolving hardware, networking, and storage device problems.
- Repair faulty equipment including servers and networking devices.
- Install and sustain networking hardware like switches and routers on a large scale.
- Use various diagnostic tools to resolve issues related to hardware, software, applications, operations, and procedures, communicating resolutions to stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Minimum: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Practical knowledge of computer and server hardware troubleshooting and diagnostics.
- Familiarity with operating systems and networking protocols.
Preferred Experience
- Experience maintaining and monitoring server systems.
- Proficiency with Linux operating systems.
- Project management and leadership experience.
- Background working in data center or network operation center settings.
- Strong collaborative skills to address and resolve issues with cross-functional teams.
Compensation and Benefits
Competitive remuneration determined by skills, experience, and education. Salary range for Ireland is €58,000 to €59,000 annually with a 15% bonus target, equity options, and additional benefits.
