About Datacom and the Role

Within its dedicated ServiceNow Practice, the company collaborates closely with customers to modernise service delivery, transform business processes, and maximise the ServiceNow platform’s potential.
In the position of ServiceNow Technical Consultant (Contractor), you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and implementing high-calibre ServiceNow solutions spanning ITSM, CSM, HRSD, CMDB, Workflow Automation, and additional platform functions. Your main responsibility is to develop and deploy ServiceNow solutions aligned with project goals, client engagements, and desired business outcomes.
Working in close cooperation with customers, you will analyse business challenges, architect tailored ServiceNow solutions, and guide the entire delivery lifecycle from requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment to training.
Although Datacom’s offices are distributed across New Zealand, ideal candidates are expected to be based in major centres such as Wellington, Auckland, Christchurch, Hamilton, or Tauranga. The company promotes a flexible approach balancing remote work and in-person collaboration to support work-life harmony.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement robust ServiceNow solutions across various modules and workflows.
- Collaborate with clients to assess business requirements and translate them into scalable, effective ServiceNow architectures and configurations.
- Lead dedicated project segments including requirements elicitation, design sessions, sprint planning and technical execution.
- Configure and customize ServiceNow platform components, including forms, workflows, integrations, automation scripts, business rules and portals.
- Assist in installation, testing, deployment processes, and oversee user acceptance testing coordination with clients.
- Identify and escalate risks, track issues, and suggest continuous improvement areas.
- Develop comprehensive technical specifications, user manuals, configuration documents, and architectural models.
- Support proposals, solution demonstrations and presales activities in collaboration with ServiceNow Practice leadership.
- Stay informed on the latest ServiceNow updates, best practices, automation techniques, and emerging features.
- Comply with all health, safety, and security protocols in daily work.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Minimum of three years’ experience in systems design, integrations or technology consulting, preferably with direct ServiceNow implementation experience.
- Proficiency in one or more ServiceNow modules or technical areas, such as ITSM, CSM, CMDB, Automation, Flow Designer, Integrations.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to convert business requirements into technical designs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities for effective engagement with users and IT teams.
- Experience in creating technical documentation and specifications.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and build strong client relationships.
- Good understanding of business operations, corporate structures and planning strategies.
- Awareness of industry standards and government regulations related to data communications and networking.
- Familiarity with modern DevOps tools and automation processes.
