G4S Oakhill Secure Training Centre (STC) in Milton Keynes is dedicated to caring for children aged 12 to 18 years who are either remanded or sentenced to detention. These children often have complex social and emotional needs, requiring a stable, secure environment that supports personal development and helps them build life skills to overcome past behaviors. The centre aims to nurture a safe atmosphere where children can recover from trauma, embrace positive identities, and are supported towards positive emotional, mental, physical, and social outcomes, preparing them for successful reintegration into the community or other custodial settings.

Role Overview

The full-time Cleaner position involves maintaining cleanliness and hygiene across designated areas in compliance with contract standards. You will be part of the Facilities Management (FM) team, ensuring operational requirements and cleanliness standards are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities

• Familiarize yourself with and adhere to the contract cleaning specifications.
• Clean specific areas at scheduled times to avoid disruption to business operations.
• Report any building-related defects to the FM helpdesk promptly.
• Monitor and replenish stock levels of cleaning supplies in cupboards.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper storage of cleaning cupboards and consumables, ensuring compliant and safe practices.
• Keep COSHH documentation accessible to support safe chemical handling and storage.
• Inspect cleaning equipment for safety before use and operate it only when trained and competent.
• Promote a positive Health & Safety culture by leading by example, timely incident reporting, and following safe work procedures.
• Be adaptable to reasonable changes and additional similar tasks beyond those listed.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have proven cleaning experience, demonstrating reliability, conscientiousness, flexibility, and the ability to maintain high standards under varying conditions.

Additional Information

This position requires passing strict security vetting aligned with Youth Custody Services standards and the Disclosure and Barring Scheme (DBS). Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK, have lived in the UK for at least three years, and be able to provide a full five-year employment and education history. The role carries a responsibility to promote and safeguard the welfare of children in care, necessitating an Enhanced DBS certificate.
