Role overview
Taronga Zoo Sydney is seeking an experienced, driven cleaner to join the Asset Management team in Mosman, New South Wales. This is an ongoing full-time role based at Sydney’s iconic Taronga Zoo, with rotating morning and/or evening shifts.
The position carries an annual package of $69,004 under the TCSA Wages Employees Award, Cleaner Grade 2. This package includes a base salary of $60,881.97 plus superannuation and leave loading.
Working pattern
You will work on a rotating 7-day roster, with shifts generally scheduled between 6:30am–3:15pm and 8:30am–5:15pm.
What the role involves
In this position, you will help maintain the cleanliness, presentation, and welcoming atmosphere of Taronga Zoo’s grounds and facilities, supporting a visitor experience that meets the organisation’s high standards.
- Carry out cleaning tasks across the zoo grounds and surrounding areas.
- Keep public spaces, internal administrative buildings, and the car park presented to a very high standard.
- Follow Taronga’s Customer Service Charter and contribute ideas to improve service quality.
- Share Taronga’s education and conservation messages in ways that reflect the organisation’s values.
- Work cooperatively within a high-performing team to support broader strategic goals.
- Support sustainability practices at work and help reduce environmental impact.
- Follow Work Health and Safety requirements and report incidents in line with Taronga’s WHS Charter.
What you need
Applicants should bring the following checks, clearances, and licences:
- A current NSW driver licence, or the ability to have an existing licence formally recognised, including manual capability if applying for Cleaner Grade 3.
- Tuberculosis screening.
- Vaccinations for zoonotic diseases, in line with Taronga’s vaccination matrix, at your own cost.
- A current paid NSW Working with Children Check, maintained at your own expense.
