Job description
Job Overview
The Bus Detailer is responsible for maintaining and fueling school, activity, and commercial buses, working closely with the maintenance department. This role involves dispensing fuel, inspecting and topping up various fluids, keeping accurate logs related to fuel and meter readings, supplying necessary equipment, and managing bus flow to enable safe and timely operation. Additionally, the employee handles minor repairs to buildings and grounds as needed.
Key Duties
- Open and monitor the yard gates and parking areas, ensuring buses are positioned to avoid blocking traffic and allow efficient dispatch.
- Maintain precise documentation, including Bulk Fuel Receiving Reports, Fuel Variance Reports, Closing Month-end Reports, and Meter Calibration Reports.
- Coordinate fuel deliveries by notifying management when supplies run low and ensuring correct readings before and after refueling.
- Check and replenish bus fluids such as oil, antifreeze, power steering, transmission fluid, brake fluid, windshield washer fluid, and inspect belts during fueling.
- Carry out light cleaning and minor maintenance on bus interiors and exteriors as required.
- Complete other tasks and directives assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Familiarity with bus maintenance procedures.
- Aptitude for learning maintenance skills.
- Willingness to undergo a background check.
