Role overview
Sodexo is hiring a full-time Baker for Georgia College in Milledgeville, Georgia. This role is based onsite at the campus location and involves preparing a wide range of baked goods while meeting Sodexo culinary quality standards.
Work schedule
Shifts can vary across days and hours, and open availability is preferred. Additional scheduling details will be shared during the interview.
Compensation
The pay for this position is $12.00 to $13.00 per hour.
What you will do
In this position, you will prepare baked products according to recipes and production requirements, making sure taste, appearance, and quality meet the expectations of guests and the organization.
- Review daily production plans and use Sodexo recipes to make breads, rolls, muffins, biscuits, cakes, pastries, and similar baked items from scratch.
- Measure ingredients carefully, mix doughs and batters manually or with equipment, shape and cut dough, and bake products to the required standard.
- Control oven settings, track baking times, and make sure food is prepared, held, and served at safe and correct temperatures.
- Organize and replenish the bake shop, maintain storage, rotation, labeling, and dating practices, and keep the bakery area neat and orderly.
- Focus on quality details, handle special requests, and ensure only top-quality items are sent out.
- Maintain reliable attendance and arrive on time for scheduled shifts.
- Perform additional duties as needed based on operational and client requirements.
Physical requirements
This job involves frequent movement and standing for long periods, potentially for more than 8 hours per shift. It also requires the ability to use hands and arms for handling, reaching, and similar tasks, as well as the ability to taste or smell.
- Walk or otherwise move around frequently during the shift.
- Stand or walk for extended periods, including shifts that may exceed 8 hours.
- Reach, bend, stoop, push, and pull as needed.
- Lift up to 35 pounds often and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent practical experience is required.
- About 0 to 1 year of related work experience is expected.
- Prior experience in a specialty bakery or pastry role is preferred.
