Job Location and Schedule

This role is based at Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, FL. The position requires flexibility with workdays and shift hours, with a preference for open availability. Specific shift details will be provided during the interview process.

Position Summary

As a Baker with Sodexo, you will prepare a range of baked goods from scratch according to established recipes and production guidelines, ensuring quality in both taste and presentation that meets Sodexo culinary standards. Responsibilities could vary per account to meet business needs and client expectations.

Responsibilities

• Review daily production plans and prepare baked products including breads, rolls, muffins, biscuits, cakes, and pastries following Sodexo recipes.
• Measure and weigh ingredients precisely, mix doughs and batters manually or with mixers, shape and cut dough, and monitor baking to achieve consistent results.
• Manage oven settings and baking times to maintain product quality and safety temperature standards.
• Organize and stock bake shop areas, implement proper storage techniques with rotation, labeling, and dating, and maintain cleanliness and orderliness.
• Attend to special requests with detail-oriented care, ensuring only superior quality baked goods are served.
• Engage in significant physical activity including walking and standing for long periods, and use manual dexterity skills involving hand and arm movements.
• Lift items weighing up to 35 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, push and pull as part of daily tasks.
• Maintain punctuality and reliable attendance for scheduled shifts.
• Perform additional duties as assigned based on operational requirements.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required.
• 0 to 1 year of relevant bakery or pastry experience preferred, with specialized bakery or pastry experience considered an asset.

Compensation

Hourly pay ranges from $16 to $17.
