Role Overview

The Assistant Chief Engineer supports the Chief Engineer in managing all engineering and maintenance operations throughout the hotel. This leadership role involves ensuring smooth functionality and upkeep of all guest and operational areas by overseeing maintenance, safety, compliance, and asset management activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Chief Engineer in directing the engineering department and daily maintenance tasks of the property.
• Supervise preventative maintenance schedules and the operational efficiency of building systems, plant machinery, and equipment.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the engineering team while fostering a strong safety culture within the department.
• Prioritize maintenance activities, manage contractor services, and maintain compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
• Contribute to capital improvement projects, support sustainability goals, and promote ongoing enhancements.
• Collaborate with other hotel departments to guarantee a flawless luxury experience for guests.
• Assume leadership duties in the absence of the Chief Engineer and provide practical technical assistance as needed.

Candidate Requirements

• Experience in hotel engineering, facilities management, or maintenance leadership, preferably in a luxury or premium hospitality context or a large-scale facility.
• Proven ability to lead engineering teams in dynamic and operational environments.
• Comprehensive knowledge of building services such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance systems.
• Understanding of preventative maintenance, contractor oversight, workplace health and safety, and statutory compliance.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationships across departments.
• Organizational proficiency with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset to manage multiple priorities.
• Willingness and flexibility to work a rotating schedule that includes weekends and public holidays.
