About the Role

Republic Bangla, part of Republic Media Network, is seeking passionate and energetic Anchors to enhance our editorial team in Kolkata. Successful candidates should possess excellent live presentation skills, strong editorial insight, and practical newsroom experience. This role involves anchoring live broadcasts, as well as contributing written content and coordinating production elements.

Primary Duties

• Host live news bulletins including evening shows, breaking news coverage, debates, and special programming with confidence and precision.
• Present news professionally, engaging audiences while upholding strict editorial standards.
• Function as a Package Writer and Show Producer by scripting, planning rundowns, and preparing bulletins.
• Create, edit, and review scripts, anchors’ links, headlines, and content for special broadcasts.
• Collaborate closely with input, output, PCR, graphics, digital, and production teams to maintain smooth newsroom workflow.
• Manage breaking news segments, making swift editorial decisions during live sessions.
• Conduct live interviews with newsmakers, experts, and public officials.
• Verify facts rigorously to ensure accuracy before broadcast.
• Stay well-informed about current affairs including politics, governance, business, sports, and entertainment.
• Contribute ideas for stories, exclusive content, and special programming projects.

Candidate Requirements

• Graduate or postgraduate degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, or related disciplines.
• Between 3 and 8 years of experience anchoring television news, with additional experience in reporting and newsroom desk management.
• Skilled in live anchoring, scriptwriting, and news presentation techniques.
• Proven ability to manage breaking news under pressure during live broadcasts.
• Sound editorial judgment and a thorough understanding of television news production workflows.

• Experience covering political events and election cycles.
• In-depth knowledge of West Bengal's political landscape, administration, and current events.
• Ability to multitask effectively across anchoring, reporting, and desk duties.
• Confident on-air personality with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
