Position Overview
As an Aircraft Technician specializing in Avionics, your role focuses on the upkeep and repair of advanced electronic systems and on-board avionics, essential for keeping aircraft operational and mission-ready.
Key Duties
- Provide pilots with instantaneous access to extensive battle-space data and enable sharing of sensor and actionable intelligence.
- Maintain peak functionality of vital aircraft systems including radar, communication, reconnaissance, and target acquisition equipment.
- Repair sophisticated on-board mechanisms responsible for weapon selection, arming, and release.
- Oversee maintenance of aircraft electrical generation and distribution systems.
- Deliver engineering expertise for in-flight systems and support aircraft engineering during deployments.
- Participate in overseas missions to assist Royal Air Force aircraft and associated equipment during operations and training exercises.
Qualifications and Eligibility
- Applicants must be aged between 16 and 47 years, with the requirement to attest before their 48th birthday.
- Academic prerequisites include GCSEs at grade C/4 or Scottish National 5s at grade C in English Language, Mathematics, and at least one approved Science or Technology subject.
- Candidates must fulfill specific nationality and residency requirements as detailed in the official Entry Requirements.
- Commitment to at least three years of service following completion of specialized training is mandatory.
- Successful completion of the Defence Aptitude Assessment is required.
- A fitness test must be passed to qualify.
