Overview

Vertiv is looking for a Global Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager to oversee fabrication, assembly, and manufacturing strategy for Infrastructure Solutions operations worldwide. This role involves defining scalable manufacturing processes, system standards, and equipment platforms, with a focus on Engineer-to-Order (ETO) and New Product Development Introduction (NPDI) environments. The position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to establish safe, efficient, and repeatable manufacturing capabilities across multiple global sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and standardize global manufacturing processes covering fabrication, welding, assembly, and testing operations.
  • Develop assembly process architectures, production line designs, and design for manufacturing/assembly (DFM/DFA) guidelines aligned with strategic business goals.
  • Create standardized operating models for fabrication, sub-assembly, final assembly, and testing workflows.
  • Promote process uniformity, manufacturability, scalability, and operational efficiency across all global manufacturing locations.
  • Define and implement global strategies for equipment, tooling, and automation in support of fabrication and assembly operations.
  • Oversee equipment specification, supplier evaluation, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), commissioning, and governance for deployment.
  • Support capital investment planning via ROI-focused and risk-based business case preparation.
  • Assess and integrate advanced manufacturing technologies, including automation and robotics, where suitable.
  • Drive the global standardization of the Industrial Engineering (IE) framework for IS manufacturing operations.
  • Develop consistent approaches for production routings, labor standards, work content analysis, takt time assumptions, and line balancing techniques.
  • Implement best practices for ergonomic workstation design, material flow optimization, and efficient factory space utilization.
  • Create executable capacity models accommodating ETO variability, complex product mixes, and production changeovers.
  • Support optimization of manufacturing footprints and scaling operational capabilities.
  • Lead manufacturing readiness efforts for new product development and introduction programs.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to advance modularity, platform strategies, and product standardization initiatives.
  • Ensure global deployment success of new manufacturing processes, equipment, and operational standards through structured change management.
  • Facilitate process validation, pilot production runs, and ramp-up activities at manufacturing sites.
  • Act as a strategic manufacturing partner to Operations, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Finance teams, providing escalation support for manufacturing challenges.
  • Drive alignment and continuous improvement across manufacturing KPIs including safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.
  • Lead and influence cross-functional teams in a globally matrixed organizational environment.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in advanced manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing strategy, or industrialization.
  • Proven expertise in fabrication, welding, and assembly within ETO, high-mix, or low-volume manufacturing settings.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial engineering techniques including line balancing, labor modeling, and capacity planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate manufacturing strategies into practical, plant-level solutions.
  • Experience leading global initiatives for manufacturing process improvements and equipment deployment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in electrical infrastructure, power systems, thermal management, or heavy industrial manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with automation, robotics, digital manufacturing, and advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification or related continuous improvement proficiency.
  • Background working within global matrixed manufacturing organizations.

Educational Background

Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or a closely related technical field is required.

Travel Requirements

This position requires the ability to travel internationally 10–30% of the time to support manufacturing deployments, site readiness, equipment commissioning, and operational support.
