The Master of Laboratory Animal Science (MLAS) degree is a full-time, two-year program designed primarily for students aiming for careers in biomedical research or laboratory animal science, or those preparing for veterinary school. The program combines foundational basic science courses, specialized laboratory animal science training, and a practical hands-on practicum. Classes are often scheduled in late afternoons and early evenings to accommodate working professionals. MLAS graduates have a strong record of acceptance into accredited U.S. Veterinary Medical Colleges.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As an adjunct faculty member for the MLAS program, you will create or teach course content in line with university guidelines. Duties include developing syllabi or teaching provided materials, delivering lectures, holding student consultations, maintaining accurate course documentation, submitting grades in a timely manner, and fulfilling any additional tasks from the department head or program director. Grade sheets must be submitted within one week after final grades are assigned. Coordination with the Program Director is required for incomplete grades or appeals extending beyond your contract period.

This is a non-tenure track appointment ending at the conclusion of the assigned term without notice. Time spent in this role does not contribute toward tenure or probation periods. Some adjunct faculty may be eligible for specific university benefits.

Additional Terms and Conditions

Your appointment is subject to minimum student enrollment. The university reserves the right to cancel courses before the first session, which will rescind your teaching appointment. If cancellation occurs within seven days prior to the first class and no reassignment is offered, you will be compensated $250, except for graduate thesis supervision courses.
