Role overview
Amazon is hiring a Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Coordinator to support the team. As the business continues to expand, this role will help maintain a safe, productive, and motivated environment for all employees. The position will focus on driving health and safety practices across the fulfillment center and will report to the WHS Manager.
The role requires a proactive approach, strong ownership, and the ability to act quickly to improve safety performance, reduce risks, and support compliance with both site requirements and local regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Run risk assessments for existing processes as well as newly introduced activities.
- Create and maintain the site WHS training matrix.
- Implement site-level WHS standards, procedures, and guidelines.
- Drive WHS objectives and program rollouts at the site.
- Reinforce a safety-first culture by sharing daily WHS messages during shift briefings.
- Carry out regular safety inspections to spot unsafe equipment or processes and identify non-compliance.
- Partner with the operations team to remove exposure to risks and help prevent injuries.
- Respond to incidents and occupational injury cases on site.
- Support area managers with incident investigations, Gensuite documentation, and lessons-learned communication.
- Help operations teams with Gensuite follow-up tracking and CAPA preparation.
- Review record-keeping practices and ensure Gensuite entries meet global WHS standards and local legal requirements.
- Track PPE stock levels and coordinate with procurement for replenishment.
- Own weekly Key Safety Requirement (KSR) audits, including monitoring and support.
- Confirm completion of basic fire-fighting and first-aid training requirements.
- Carry out daily inspections for powered industrial tools and trailer dock releases, and communicate findings.
- Monitor and support the daily Action Tracking System.
- Join site safety walks and share observations on unsafe acts and unsafe conditions with management.
- Provide daily updates to the Country WHS Manager on progress against objectives, incidents, KSR, ATS, and network actions.
- Prepare WHS committee meeting agendas, minutes of meeting (MOM), and ATS entries.
- Review and sign off on daily permits to work.
- Lead WHS-related procurement follow-ups.
- Prepare emergency response plans and support emergency readiness.
- Organize and conduct emergency drills, including training and record preparation.
- Set up, monitor, and support heat index controls.
- Assist with site-specific requests, unplanned events, and ad hoc activities.
- Perform daily and weekly WHS inspections, including checks of the hazardous waste room, spill kits, first aid room, and other site safety areas.
Qualifications and requirements
- Strong spoken, written, and reading fluency in English is required.
- Prior experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is preferred.
