Overview
Davidson Heating & Air is searching for a seasoned executive to oversee daily operations of its residential and commercial HVAC divisions. This role is accountable for the performance and management of field operations, covering service, installation, quality control, technician training and development, workforce scheduling, hiring processes, customer satisfaction, and day-to-day execution. The Vice President will foster a culture marked by accountability, professionalism, and continuous enhancement, ensuring exceptional service delivery to every customer. This position allows the senior leadership team to concentrate on business expansion, complex sales, engineering, and strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct daily activities of service and installation teams ensuring efficient dispatch based on skills and job requirements.
- Maintain team productivity and resolve bottlenecks to improve operational effectiveness.
- Accountable for technician development through technical training programs, coaching, skill gap analysis, and adherence to company standards.
- Manage customer service quality by addressing escalations, analyzing callbacks/warranty issues, and promoting consistent, professional service.
- Oversee service and installation standards compliance, first-time fix rate improvements, and availability of necessary tools and equipment.
- Coordinate scheduling with dispatch to optimize technician efficiency, prioritize emergencies, and keep jobs on target.
- Collaborate with operations and purchasing to forecast inventory and ensure timely parts delivery for uninterrupted fieldwork.
- Support recruitment by interviewing, evaluating candidates, and developing career paths to improve retention.
- Lead performance management through reviews, coaching, employee recognition, and fostering accountability.
- Ensure workplace safety by enforcing OSHA standards, vehicle safety protocols, PPE use, safe practices, and ongoing safety training.
- Provide leadership that commands respect through expertise, accountability, problem-solving, effective communication, trust-building, and prioritizing both customers and staff.
Qualifications
- At least 10 years of experience in the HVAC industry.
- Minimum of 5 years as a residential and/or commercial HVAC service technician.
- At least 3 years managing teams of service technicians and installation staff.
- Proven leadership experience overseeing multiple technicians simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of residential and commercial HVAC systems.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Success Metrics
- Customer satisfaction and positive Google review trends.
- Reduction in callbacks and warranty claims.
- Improved first-time fix rates and technician productivity.
- Gross margins on service and installation work.
- Employee retention, training completion, and technician engagement.
- Safety performance and ability to resolve customer escalations promptly.

Work Environment & Location
This role requires presence across two Davidson Heating & Air locations in Lexington and Kannapolis, North Carolina. Regular travel between offices and job sites is essential.
