Position Overview
The Vice President of Strategic Analysis will steer enterprise-wide strategy work, business intelligence, market research, and corporate planning. This executive role turns data into actionable guidance for senior leaders, helping shape long-term growth, investment decisions, competitive strategy, and overall business performance.
The person in this role will work closely with executive leadership to spot emerging trends, assess opportunities, and help define the organization’s strategic direction.
Strategic Planning and Analysis
- Lead the framework used for company-wide strategic analysis so it aligns with long-term objectives.
- Perform in-depth reviews of market conditions, financial performance, operations, and competitors to uncover growth potential.
- Translate quantitative and qualitative research into strategic recommendations for senior decision-makers.
- Contribute to corporate strategy, annual objectives, and multi-year forecasting plans.
Business Intelligence and Data Analytics
- Direct enterprise business intelligence efforts and executive reporting capabilities.
- Create dashboards, KPI scorecards, and performance reporting structures for leadership use.
- Evaluate financial results, operational measures, customer patterns, and market movements.
- Apply advanced analytics and predictive modeling to improve decision quality.
Market and Competitive Intelligence
- Track industry shifts, competitor actions, regulatory updates, and new technologies.
- Carry out market sizing, opportunity analysis, customer segmentation, and trend evaluation.
- Review competitive standing and suggest actions to improve market leadership.
- Spot new business models, partnerships, and expansion possibilities.
Financial and Investment Analysis
- Oversee financial modeling, investment evaluation, profitability studies, and scenario planning.
- Assess mergers, acquisitions, strategic alliances, and major capital investment proposals.
- Perform ROI analysis to support executive-level investment choices.
- Work with Finance on budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial planning.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with teams across Finance, Operations, Product, Sales, Marketing, Technology, and Corporate Development.
- Help drive strategic initiatives across multiple functions of the business.
- Deliver executive-level updates and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Lead or facilitate strategy workshops and business review sessions.
Leadership and Organizational Development
- Recruit, build, and manage high-performing teams of strategy analysts, BI specialists, and market researchers.
- Coach team members in analytical methods, strategic thinking, and executive communication.
- Encourage innovation, continuous learning, and evidence-based decision-making across the team.
- Oversee department budgets, resources, and outside research partnerships.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, Statistics, Management, or a related discipline is required. An MBA or master’s degree is preferred.
The role calls for 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in corporate strategy, business intelligence, strategic planning, consulting, investment analysis, or similar functions.
Candidates should have a strong background in financial modeling, business analytics, forecasting, market research, corporate performance management, and competitive intelligence.
Excellent communication, presentation, analytical, and leadership abilities are essential, along with the capacity to influence executive stakeholders using data-backed insights.
Preferred Background
Experience in fintech, cryptocurrency, blockchain, financial services, technology, SaaS, or other fast-growing sectors is valued.
Hands-on exposure to tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Looker, Qlik, or comparable BI platforms is an advantage.
Working knowledge of SQL, Python, R, AI-enabled analytics, and predictive modeling is highly desirable.
Background in mergers and acquisitions, venture investment, or corporate development is beneficial.
Familiarity with international markets and global business strategy is also preferred.
Professional certifications in strategy, analytics, finance, or project management would be an added plus.
