Overview
We are seeking a welcoming, professional, and versatile Venue Customer Experience Officer to join the team at Te Puna Mahara - Cromwell Memorial Events Centre. This position is central to a growing community venue and plays a crucial role in providing a safe, well-managed, and inviting atmosphere for all visitors and users of the facility.
Primary Duties
- Serve as the initial point of contact for all visitors, delivering a friendly and professional reception
- Respond to inquiries received in person, by phone, and via email
- Assist guests with bookings and guide them to their designated rooms or event areas
- Welcome attendees for meetings and appointments and help them connect with staff members
- Manage venue bookings, ticketing processes, and box office operations
- Maintain and update website content as well as the booking and ticketing systems
- Provide general administrative assistance including data entry and record maintenance
- Support retail operations as needed, including covering staff breaks
- Promote health and safety within the venue, including completing fire warden training and assisting during evacuations
- Work collaboratively with the venue team and remain adaptable as the facility evolves
- Maintain flexibility to work evenings and weekends according to event schedules
Working Hours
Part-time schedule on Sundays and Mondays from 9:30am to 5:30pm; full-time coverage Tuesday through Saturday from 9:30am to 5:30pm is also an option depending on availability.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in customer service roles, preferably in reception or other public-facing positions
- Strong administrative skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with diverse customers
- Comfortable using computer systems for bookings, ticket sales, or point-of-sale operations
- Ability to remain composed and professional under pressure or during unexpected situations
- Flexible and eager to learn in a dynamic venue environment
- Positive team player with a dedication to high-quality customer service
- Willingness to complete health and safety training including fire warden responsibilities
- Experience in event management, hospitality, tourism, retail, or community facilities is advantageous
