Utility Technician

Role overview

This position supports an office coffee operation with a mix of inventory handling, equipment service, route backup, and customer-site support. Depending on assignment, the role may also be trained as a relief driver for water sales and delivery, which requires a Class D license and the ability to handle heavy lifting.

Key duties

• Review service calls and orders, then load the truck with the correct products and parts.
• Maintain a courteous, professional presence with a strong customer-first approach.
• Deliver and service all customers on the coffee route when assigned to route duties.
• Complete route and service work in a productive and efficient manner.
• Carry out preventive maintenance and repair work on customer equipment.
• Handle warehouse inventory tasks, including ordering, receiving, checking, and arranging incoming stock.
• Complete vehicle pre-trip and post-trip inspections and reports.
• Keep assigned vehicles clean and identify any maintenance or safety concerns.
• Use the electronic ordering device and printer as required.
• Clean and refurbish equipment both in-house and at customer locations.
• Protect and secure keys and vehicles at the end of each day.

Physical requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs continuously and up to 60 lbs intermittently.
• For water sales and delivery duties, continuous lifting of up to 60 lbs is required.
• Frequent bending, stooping, and climbing are part of the job.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods is necessary.
• Work includes repeated vehicle entry and exit throughout the shift.

Work environment

• Work may take place in a variety of settings, including outdoors, indoors, break rooms, offices, and dock areas.
• Traveling to locations may involve exposure to cold, heat, and rain.
• Some tasks are completed in a temperature-controlled stockroom.
