Role Overview
Join MS Amlin’s respected Political Violence underwriting team based in Singapore as a full-time permanent Underwriter. This vital position empowers you to make informed underwriting decisions, contributing significantly to our operational strategy while driving profitable business growth and reducing loss exposure.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to a market-leading Political Violence portfolio spanning diverse regions and with a wide risk appetite.
- Analyze and accept risks within agreed guidelines, exercising sound judgment to ensure profitability and long-term value through intelligent underwriting.
- Negotiate insurance terms consistent with company and corporate policies.
- Establish and nurture client and broker relationships through ongoing engagement, demonstrating clear insight into their business needs and our value proposition.
- Manage the departmental underwriting portfolio ensuring adherence to risk controls, legal regulations, and compliance standards.
- Conduct portfolio analysis to identify new business opportunities including products and clients supported by thorough business cases.
- Coordinate with regional underwriting management to ensure compliance, implement corrective measures where needed, and maintain authorization limits and underwriting controls.
- Represent the underwriting class professionally in various external forums, committees, and industry groups.
- Monitor underwriting metrics regularly to detect and respond to unfavorable trends or results promptly.
- Collaborate extensively with other teams in the Insurance division, performing peer reviews and exploiting cross-functional opportunities aligned with the Political Violence strategy.
Candidate Profile
Ideal candidates will exhibit a strong desire to learn and work towards CII accreditation, possessing robust business acumen accompanied by analytical and numerical skills. Effective problem-solving abilities, excellent communication, and negotiation talents are essential.
