About the Role

Join Mitre 10 Gisborne, New Zealand's leading home improvement store, as a Trade Team Member. In this role, you will assist in the yard, drive-through, and at the Trade Counter, delivering outstanding service to all customers and ensuring they have everything needed to complete their projects successfully. This part-time position involves approximately 20 hours per week with working days and hours to be finalized during the interview. Reporting is directly to the Trade Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to all Trade Department patrons.
• Operate efficiently in processing checkout transactions.
• Maintain the department’s presentation to a high standard.
• Adhere strictly to all security protocols.
• Take initiative to go beyond standard customer service expectations.

Requirements and Skills

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and autonomously when needed.
• Flexibility and adaptability to manage a dynamic and busy workload.
• Hold a valid driver's license; forklift license desirable or willingness to obtain one.
• Familiarity with building supplies, timber, and trade-related products is a plus.
• Passion for providing excellent customer service.
• Previous experience handling cash and operating POS systems; training will be provided.
• Strong communication abilities and a consistently positive attitude.
• Reliability and effective time management skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
• Physical fitness adequate to assist in lifting timber and other heavy materials and to be on feet throughout the day.
