Role Overview

As the Technical Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) located in Doha, Qatar, you will lead the entire technology strategy and execution of Rently’s platform. Your duties will include architecting and developing the core system, managing the software development lifecycle, and guaranteeing performance, scalability, and security standards. You will build and oversee a technical team, enforce engineering best practices, and collaborate closely with the founding leadership on product planning, prioritization, and technical decision-making.

Daily responsibilities range from hands-on coding, architectural design reviews, third-party integrations, managing cloud infrastructure and DevOps, to ensuring quality control in deployment and monitoring processes. You will also engage in fundraising activities, contribute to due diligence for investment, and define the long-term tech vision to support business objectives.

Required Qualifications

• Comprehensive software engineering expertise including development of web or mobile applications, system architecture planning, and API creation.
• Proven leadership in engineering teams with experience in establishing development workflows, code review policies, and mentoring in startup or fast-growing contexts.
• Proficiency in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP), DevOps methodologies, CI/CD automation, and application health monitoring for reliable, scalable systems.
• Strong awareness of data protection, privacy standards, and secure payment system integrations suitable for marketplace or transactional platforms.
• Experience in product-driven software development collaborating closely with founders or product owners to align technical solutions with business requirements.
• Willingness and ability to work full-time onsite in Doha and effectively communicate with diverse teams including non-technologists.
• Prior experience with marketplace, ecommerce, or rental service platforms is a significant advantage.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar disciplines; or equivalent professional experience.
