Position Location and Openings
This position is based in Kochi (Kerala) or Nagpur (Maharashtra) with one available vacancy.
Role Responsibilities
- Oversee the Engineering team by organizing and distributing tasks to achieve balanced workload and timely project completion.
- Review and approve technical outputs such as General Arrangements, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, input/output lists, system architecture and network schematics, control philosophies, functional design specifications, logic diagrams, cable schedules, and FAT/SAT procedures and reports before client submission.
- Validate PLC and RTU logic as well as SCADA screen designs against functional design specifications.
- Implement and maintain drawing standards, templates, and best practices aligning with client requirements and standards like IEC and NFPA.
- Analyze client specifications, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and tender documents; lead technical clarification meetings and handle technical queries.
- Contribute engineering expertise on Safety Instrumented System requirements, safety integrity level distribution, and interfaces between basic process control and safety systems as per IEC 61511.
- Ensure equipment choices, panel designs, and field wiring comply with hazardous area classifications such as ATEX and IECEx.
- Manage engineering scopes, deliverable tracking, and project scheduling across multiple simultaneous assignments.
- Support pre-bid efforts including defining technical scopes and estimating engineering effort hours.
- Examine vendor submissions, bill of materials, and technical datasheets for adherence to engineering standards.
- Coordinate the handover process from engineering to commissioning teams, including conducting or delegating site surveys.
- Collaborate with disciplines including process, instrumentation, electrical, and civil engineering to ensure designs meet project goals.
- Serve as the senior technical authority during Factory Acceptance Tests, Site Acceptance Tests, and commissioning stages, offering both remote and onsite assistance.
- Guide and mentor junior and mid-level engineers through performance evaluations and recommend necessary training or recruitment.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Instrumentation, Electronics & Communication, or related fields.
- Minimum of six years’ experience in Industrial Control and Automation Systems design with at least two years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience delivering complete engineering packages for PLC, RTU, SCADA, and HMI projects primarily in oil & gas or related process industries.
- Proficiency with EPLAN Electric P8 and/or AutoCAD Electrical design software.
- Experienced in preparing and reviewing GA layouts, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, I/O lists, control philosophies, cable schedules, P&IDs, and FAT/SAT procedures.
- Skill in reviewing PLC/RTU logic and SCADA screens relative to functional design specifications.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols: Modbus RTU/TCP, Profibus/Profinet, DNP3, IEC 61850, IEC 104, MQTT.
- Familiarity with communication networks including Ethernet, fiber optics, RS232, and RS485.
- Experience with automation platforms such as Rockwell (Studio 5000/ControlLogix/FactoryTalk), Siemens (TIA Portal/WinCC), or Schneider Electric.
- Working understanding of Functional Safety standards (IEC 61511) and SIS/BPCS interface design.
- Awareness of hazardous area classification standards (ATEX/IECEx) pertinent to equipment selection and panel engineering.
- Working knowledge of OT cybersecurity standards (IEC 62443) and substation automation (IEC 61850); experience in OT cybersecurity projects is a plus.
- Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight schedule and resource constraints.
- Strong aptitude for technical review, quality assurance, people management, and effective client communication.
