Role Overview
We are looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join a leading Medical Device company based in Galway. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement and excellent opportunities for career advancement. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading technical efforts related to supplier quality, resolving non-conformances, supporting business continuity and managing the integration of new materials and products into manufacturing processes while driving cost reduction initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical contributor on cross-functional teams with representatives from Purchasing, Supplier Quality, and Business Units focusing on supplier management.
- Apply technical expertise in commodity management to achieve quality, cost, and service objectives.
- Drive continuous improvements in quality systems, supply chain service capabilities, and total cost of ownership.
- Investigate material quality issues collaboratively with Quality, Procurement, and Business Units to resolve issues and appropriately disposition product.
- Promote quality standards among suppliers and ensure compliance with quality system requirements within the supply base.
- Work closely with Procurement, Supplier Quality Engineering, Receiving Inspection, and Business Units to guarantee components meet established criteria.
- Identify, implement, and monitor adequate corrective actions by suppliers.
- Provide support and guidance to various functional areas on supplier management systems and requirements.
- Engage with suppliers on quality concerns related to incoming materials and components for production.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of supplier management policies and procedures.
- Maintain effective communication with all internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Procurement team to develop new supply sources.
- Assess and approve supplier-requested process changes.
- Lead and support material value improvement projects across the supply chain.
- Manage process transfer and implementation from development or other manufacturing sites.
- Detailed project planning to support major projects, product/process transfers, and similar initiatives.
- Develop and apply GMP-compliant supporting documentation in collaboration with team members.
- Lead resolutions for issues affecting project milestones and escalate unresolved challenges as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- Level 8 degree in Engineering or Science or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or engineering roles.
- Experience in material quality, project management, supplier lifecycle, or related supply chain roles.
- Strong communication capabilities with excellent problem-solving aptitude.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in team settings.
- Experience working in regulated environments is preferred.
