Subspecialty Trainee in Reproductive Medicine

Overview

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is offering a 24-month training opportunity in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery, officially recognized by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) upon successful completion. This role is situated in one of the UK's busiest IVF units, providing comprehensive exposure to advanced reproductive treatments, surgery, and endocrinology in a well-established training environment.

Training and Responsibilities

The selected candidate must hold an NTN and have completed at least level ST5 in an accredited Obstetrics and Gynaecology training program. Preference is given to those with sufficient research experience to apply for exemption from the RCOG's research year prior to starting. Training encompasses active involvement in fertility services, reproductive medicine clinics, endometriosis care, early pregnancy, and recurrent miscarriage clinics, ultrasound training specific to infertility and reproductive endocrinology, and participation in general and pediatric endocrine clinics. Additionally, the program includes hands-on experience with ovulation induction, IVF procedures including embryo cryopreservation, oocyte donation, and intracytoplasmic sperm injection, alongside laboratory sciences related to reproduction. Surgical training in gynecological procedures with a focus on minimally invasive reproductive surgery is also a key component.

The role involves continuing general Obstetrics and Gynaecology training, contributing to the completion or maintenance of advanced curriculum requirements for the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT). Participation in full specialty and subspecialty on-call rotas is expected.
