About the Role
This position is for a dependable and driven storeperson to support a busy steel distribution and processing operation. The role centres on handling steel products safely, organising storage, and preparing dispatches while helping the warehouse run accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Accept, check, and place incoming steel materials and products into storage
- Pick, pack, and ready customer orders for shipment
- Use forklifts and, where licensed, overhead cranes to load and unload vehicles
- Keep inventory records current and stock quantities accurate
- Carry out routine stock counts and resolve any inventory variances
- Store steel items in a way that reduces the risk of damage
- Maintain a tidy, well-organised warehouse that meets workplace health and safety requirements
- Coordinate with production, dispatch, and sales teams to meet delivery commitments
Skills and Experience
- Background in warehouse, storeperson, or similar work, ideally within steel, manufacturing, or industrial environments
- Valid forklift licence is required
- Overhead crane licence or hands-on experience is an advantage
- Capability to handle long and heavy steel goods safely
- Strong number handling and close attention to detail
- Basic computer literacy and familiarity with inventory or warehouse systems
- Reliable, hardworking, and comfortable working in a team setting
- Strong commitment to safe work practices and manual handling standards
