Overview
The New Mexico State Fire Marshal’s Office, under the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, is dedicated to protecting lives and property from the harmful impacts of fire. The office comprises four key divisions: Fire Training Academy, Fire Service Support, Arson Investigations, and Code Enforcement, each contributing to overall fire safety and prevention across the state.
Key Responsibilities
The State Fire Marshal leads and administers the office and its various departments, overseeing fire services including combating structural and wildland fires, facilitating training programs, conducting investigations, and enforcing fire codes. Administrative duties include managing personnel, budgets, and capital planning. The Fire Marshal is also responsible for developing and implementing regulations under the State Rules Act relevant to fire services and coordinating with the fire services council.

The Fire Marshal is appointed by the Secretary for the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. The position is open until filled. The annual salary ranges from 100000 to 110000 USD.
