Job Overview
This role offers engineers a unique career transition into becoming FBI Special Agents, leveraging and expanding upon your STEM background. The position provides opportunities to engage with challenging cases related to cybersecurity, terrorism, fraud, and other evolving threats facing national security.
Main Responsibilities
- Plan and execute investigations addressing potential breaches of federal laws including cyber and public safety crimes.
- Apply sound judgment, flexibility, and problem-solving skills to meet diverse investigative needs.
- Develop and sustain cooperative relationships with a variety of law enforcement partners at federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, and international levels.
- Maintain peak physical condition required for performing law enforcement duties effectively.
Key Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is a mandatory prerequisite.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance.
- Willingness to travel as the position requires.
- Fulfillment of FBI’s employment eligibility criteria.
Educational Qualifications
Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited U.S. university, preferably in engineering or a related technical discipline. Verification through transcripts is required.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $93,749 to $133,200 per year, dependent on base pay, locality adjustments, and availability pay factors.

This job is exempt from the federal civilian hiring freeze.
