Position Overview
G&C Equipment Corporation is looking for a dynamic and resourceful Sourcing and Client Relations Assistant based in Gardena, CA, to focus primarily on the procurement of construction materials, equipment, and supplies, while actively seeking new project opportunities. This role acts as a liaison connecting clients, suppliers, vendors, and company leadership.
Core Responsibilities
- Manage procurement processes for construction materials, equipment purchases, rental equipment, and project supplies.
- Obtain vendor quotes, conduct evaluations, negotiate prices, and oversee purchasing actions.
- Build and sustain strong partnerships with vendors, distributors, and suppliers.
- Organize material deliveries, logistics, and inventory to align with project timelines and customer needs.
- Investigate and identify new project prospects via public/private procurement channels.
- Monitor bid boards, procurement portals, industry sources, and networking avenues for opportunities.
- Forge and maintain relationships with project stakeholders including owners, developers, contractors, and public entities.
- Evaluate project opportunities for alignment with company strengths and growth strategies.
- Assist with strategic expansion and business development plans.
- Support proposal efforts including RFQs, RFPs, bid preparations, and maintain compliance and submission schedules.
- Serve as key contact for clients during project startup and procurement phases, ensuring communication of project requirements, timelines, and expectations.
- Support procurement logistics and stakeholder communication to foster client satisfaction.
- Maintain meticulous project documentation and records using company project folders and proprietary client management software.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of three years’ experience in construction procurement, project management, business development, or related fields.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related discipline preferred.
- Strong background in purchasing construction-related materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Proven experience with purchase order preparation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for relationship building.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams; QuickBooks experience is advantageous.
- Strong aptitude for data analysis related to pricing and project evaluation.
Preferred Qualifications and Attributes
- Experience collaborating with public agencies, municipalities, airports, transit bodies, or large general contractors.
- Acquainted with procurement portals and bidding software.
- Background in construction, equipment rental, logistics, or infrastructure sectors.
- Familiarity with CRM, project management, and proposal software tools.
- Self-motivated, business-savvy, professional, personable, client-oriented, strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving and proactive opportunity identification skills.
- Adept at balancing procurement duties with business development goals.
