Role Overview
The Social Worker / Case Worker is responsible for delivering social work interventions and programmes, supporting community development efforts, and contributing to the advancement of professional social work practice. The role involves individual casework, group work, and the planning, implementation, and review of community initiatives that help close service gaps in the community. The position also requires coordination with partner agencies and ministries, along with supervision of junior staff.
Responsibilities
- Carry out intake and needs assessments for clients.
- Develop, implement, and monitor case plans, care plans, and intervention strategies.
- Draft social work reports and maintain accurate case documentation.
- Record case notes and keep files and records up to date.
- Set goals with clients and review casework approaches to improve outcomes.
- Close cases once sustainable results have been achieved for clients, families, and the wider community.
- Assess, refine, and support group work programmes and interventions.
- Assist in planning group sessions and, under supervision, facilitate group activities.
- Work with external agencies to coordinate and leverage community resources.
- Conduct environmental scanning and assess community needs.
- Help design, implement, and improve community development initiatives.
- Build strong professional relationships with clients and their significant others.
- Collaborate with professionals across disciplines in social work practice.
- Contribute to research efforts that strengthen social work practice.
- Respond to crisis situations in line with organisational standard operating procedures.
- Provide guidance and supervision to subordinates.
Requirements
- A degree in Social Work, or a degree together with a Graduate Diploma in Social Work, or a relevant qualification in social sciences or a related field such as psychology, from an accredited institution.
- Previous experience in social work is an advantage.
- Registration as a Social Worker with the Singapore Association of Social Workers is an added advantage.
- Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.

- Clear spoken and written communication skills.
- Good report writing ability.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to review information quickly and accurately and make sound recommendations.
