Social Prescribing Officer

Role Overview

This position is a fixed-term contract of 11 months focused on implementing Social Prescribing at Dublin City University (DCU). Social Prescribing aims to support individuals by addressing their social, emotional, and practical requirements to enhance health and wellbeing holistically and personally.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop a research-based Social Prescribing framework specifically designed for DCU students to aid their comprehensive integration into university life.
• Collaborate with Student Support & Development (SS&D), the Students’ Union, DCU Healthy, and academic units to build a supportive network fostering student social engagement.
• Create and maintain a comprehensive database of social activities available across the University to promote student involvement.
• Co-develop health and wellbeing initiatives alongside university colleagues as needed.
• Provide personalized support sessions to students, helping them identify needs, strengths, personal goals, and barriers to engagement.
• Assist students in overcoming obstacles to participation and develop evolving personalized support plans.
• Facilitate student connection to relevant university support services, while monitoring and evaluating their social integration progress.
• Once protocols are established, create and train a network of colleagues known as 'Connectors' to refer students to Social Prescribing services.

Compensation

The salary falls within Professional 5 scale ranging from €59,238 to €71,370, adjusted in accordance with qualifications, experience, and Government pay policies.
