Job description
Role Overview
As a Shipping Operator, your role involves collaborating intimately with Brokers to oversee both operational and administrative facets of vessels operating under fixed charter agreements such as Time Charter, Voyage/Spot Charter, and Contracts of Affreightment (COA). Your daily tasks include working with international stakeholders to facilitate seamless shipping processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and distribute Port Arrival Notices, including estimated time of arrival and Delivery Notices.
- Confirm and follow up on voyage instructions at both loading and unloading ports.
- Supervise vessel voyages to verify adherence to charter party terms and contractual commitments.
- Address and resolve operational challenges that arise during voyages.
- Conduct laytime calculations, manage claims, handle disputes, and negotiate contract settlements with relevant parties.
- Prepare invoicing documentation and oversee brokerage commission procedures.
- Work alongside Brokers on COA activities such as scheduling laycans, managing port declarations, handling cargo nominations, and vessel assignments.
- Keep detailed and accurate operational records and documentation throughout each voyage's lifecycle.
Candidate Requirements
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in Ship Broking Operations and Chartering Operations.
- Degree qualification in Shipping, Transport, Maritime, or Logistics disciplines.
- Highly self-driven, capable of working independently, and possesses excellent organizational skills.
- Demonstrates strong client service focus and a customer-oriented approach.
- Ability to perform efficiently under pressure, managing multiple priorities in a rapidly changing environment.
