Role Overview
Altrad is seeking a skilled Services Estimator experienced in scaffolding, insulation, and painting to join their Ellesmere Port team. This position requires full ownership of the estimating process from the initial inquiry through tender submission and project handover, delivering precise, clear, and commercially sound estimates aligned with client needs and company procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end estimation activities starting from the initial inquiry up to tender delivery and project transition.
- Compile detailed and transparent quantity take-offs based on drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
- Maintain all estimates, tender files, and supporting documents following company policies and the Altrad Integrated Management System (AIMS).
- Collaborate closely with Proposal Administrators, Bid Coordinators, operational leaders, site representatives, commercial teams, and senior executives to ensure punctual, accurate estimating.
- Prepare comprehensive tender submissions, respecting contractual deadlines and internal governance standards.
- Gain in-depth knowledge of commercial terms, contract conditions, and compliance requirements through close interaction with Commercial Managers and Heads of Commercial.
- Evaluate estimate performance relative to actual project outcomes to identify improvements in estimating precision and cost benchmarks.
- Drive ongoing enhancement of estimating procedures within the UK & Nordics division to boost transparency, consistency, and accuracy.
- Engage clients to discuss pricing approaches, clarify expectations, and maintain strong professional relationships during tenders.
- Develop specialist technical expertise to become an acknowledged expert within relevant fields.
- Ensure all estimating work meets high standards, fulfilling both client expectations and Altrad business goals.
- Use a fundamental approach to problem-solving that breaks down complex issues into basics and devises practical, data-supported solutions to enhance estimate accuracy, efficiency, and commercial results.
Qualifications and Skills
- Demonstrated experience in an estimating capacity within engineering, construction, industrial, or related sectors.
- Skilled in producing accurate quantity take-offs and estimates from technical drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
- Comprehensive understanding of commercial contracts, terms, and conditions.
- Proven ability to work effectively with commercial, operational, proposal, bid teams, and senior management.
- Strong analytical mindset with problem-solving skills using first-principle methodologies.
- Meticulous attention to detail combined with the ability to manage multiple concurrent estimates and tender deadlines.
- Excellent communication and client relationship-building abilities.
- Motivation to build technical knowledge and attain expertise in specialized estimating areas.
- Experience with estimating software, cost norms, and project outcome analysis is beneficial.
- Ability to operate in compliance with Altrad's procedural frameworks and AIMS.
