Description de l'emploi
Overview
Penta Consulting is a technology resource solutions provider with more than 28 years of experience helping global clients find the right expertise for digital transformation. The company supports organisations across areas such as software engineering, artificial intelligence, project delivery, architecture, cloud, cybersecurity, and data analytics, with a focus on delivering tailored talent solutions that improve innovation and operational performance.
This position is for a Senior Software Engineer / Subject Matter Expert focused on infrastructure, DevOps, SecOps, automation, and Oracle database administration. It is based in Qatar and is a full-time 12-month contract that can be extended. The role supports a Vodafone transformation programme and is intended for someone with deep experience in enterprise infrastructure, hybrid cloud, security operations, and Oracle technologies.
Role Summary
The successful candidate will help design, secure, automate, and operate enterprise-scale hybrid cloud and on-premises environments. The work is mission-critical and supports large business services, with an emphasis on automation, security by design, and reliable operations across infrastructure and cloud ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
You will be expected to build and support Oracle DBX stack infrastructure across both on-premises and cloud platforms, contribute to DevOps and DevSecOps efforts, and strengthen security controls within CI/CD workflows. The role also includes maintaining highly available systems, disaster recovery capabilities, backup and restore processes, and operational resilience.
In addition, you will troubleshoot complex issues across infrastructure, networking, virtualization, databases, and applications, carrying out detailed root cause analysis. You will also support incident response, vulnerability remediation, compliance activities, and the installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of Oracle databases and related services.
Infrastructure and Virtualization Work
- Design, configure, and maintain Oracle DBX stack infrastructure in cloud and on-prem environments.
- Operate enterprise virtualization technologies such as Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager, VMware ESXi/vCenter, and Oracle VM.
- Carry out Linux administration tasks including patching, hardening, tuning, and performance optimisation.
- Support high availability, disaster recovery, backup, and restoration processes.
- Investigate and resolve issues affecting infrastructure, networks, virtual machines, databases, and application layers.
DevOps, Automation, and Security Duties
- Embed security controls into CI/CD pipelines as part of DevOps and DevSecOps practices.
- Automate infrastructure, deployment, monitoring, and remediation activities using scripting and orchestration tools.
- Support security operations, including incident handling, vulnerability fixes, and compliance requirements.
- Work on firewalling, endpoint security, SIEM, certificate management, patching, micro-segmentation, deception technologies, and security baseline hardening.
Oracle Database Administration
- Install, configure, and manage Oracle databases, including RAC, ASM, Data Guard, OEM, and backup/recovery solutions.
- Handle flashback configuration, database cloning, replication, and recovery exercises.
- Support disaster recovery testing, major incident analysis, and performance tuning.
- Perform database setup, administration, and optimisation across production environments.
Experience and Technical Requirements
Applicants should bring 8–10+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise infrastructure roles, with strong exposure to hybrid cloud and on-premise deployments. Solid Linux administration experience is required, especially on Oracle Linux 7/8/9/10, along with networking knowledge covering TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, SAN, and TLS/HTTPS.
Experience with OCI is preferred, and the role also calls for working knowledge of Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Terraform, Ansible, Helm, Docker, Podman, CRI-O, Kubernetes, Bash, and Python. Candidates should be comfortable automating operational workflows and working across infrastructure, security, cloud, DevOps, and database teams.
Security and Oracle DBA Expertise
The ideal candidate will have experience in enterprise security operations, including firewalls, EDR, SIEM platforms, vulnerability management, certificate management, patch management tools such as Ivanti or similar, micro-segmentation, deception technologies, and CIS/CSS benchmark hardening.
For Oracle DBA work, experience is needed in application database installation and configuration, Oracle RAC and ASM, Data Guard, backup and restore, flashback, cloning, replication, OEM administration, DR exercises, performance analysis, tuning, major incident RCA, and impact assessment.
Candidate Profile
This opportunity is best suited to someone with strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities who has supported business-critical, high-availability environments. A background in automation-first and security-first operations is important, and the ability to collaborate across infrastructure, cloud, security, DevOps, and database functions is essential. Experience in telecom or similarly regulated enterprise environments is highly desirable.
