Role Overview
The Senior Security Officer is tasked with executing robust safety and security practices in line with hotel management requirements. This role involves protecting company assets against theft, assault, fire, and other safety threats while ensuring the safety and well-being of guests, staff, and the premises. The officer supervises junior security personnel, leads emergency processes, investigates incidents, and liaises with authorities, all while maintaining discreet security within a hospitable setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the Control Room operations and coordinate daily security assignments under guidance from Security Executive and Security Manager.
- Act as shift supervisor when required, enforcing adherence to security policies.
- Manage access points by issuing passes and securing restricted areas.
- Provide security support, mediate conflicts, assist intoxicated guests, ensuring a professional and courteous demeanor.
- Protect hotel property, sensitive information, and valuables; escort cash or confidential documents as needed.
- Investigate thefts, accidents, complaints; meticulously log all incidents.
- Verify and manage visitor, guest, and contractor access and issue passes accordingly.
- Control the issuing and return of departmental keys with proper documentation.
- Maintain and document all incidents in the Security Management Occurrence log.
- Handle telephone inquiries calmly and professionally.
- Log and photograph lost and found items, transferring unclaimed items to housekeeping.
- Respond promptly to fire alarms, coordinate emergency response teams, and complete necessary reports.
- Assist in evacuation efforts when necessary.
- Manage the electronic parking system, including generating daily revenue and settlement reports.
- Perform other duties assigned by Security Executive or Security Manager.
- Prepare to participate as a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) member as needed.
- Welcome guests at main entrance, manage guest luggage, and control lobby traffic.
- Perform stationary duties at the front office ensuring peaceful surroundings and promptly addressing disturbances.
- Monitor main driveway and loading bay to maintain orderly traffic flow and ensure parking compliance.
- Verify identities of all individuals using loading bay and secure the area against unauthorized access.
- Conduct frequent patrols of hotel premises and monitor CCTV for suspicious activities; respond to emergencies within three minutes.
- Perform nightly checks to ensure security of guest room doors and detect any suspicious behavior.
Qualifications and Skills
- Registered Security Officer holding a valid PLRD Security License.
- Secondary education with mandatory WSQ certifications in Security Operations.
- Certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED.
- Certified CERT member following SCDF guidelines for High Risks Installation Tier 1.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in hotel security preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an outgoing personality and ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Eager to learn and develop new skills.
Additional Information
- Proficient in spoken and written English; knowledge of additional languages is beneficial.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) is advantageous.
- Excellent communication abilities across all staff levels.
- Detail-oriented with a service mindset and inquisitive nature.
