Role overview
The Senior School Accountant position is a temporary, on-site opportunity in Doha, Qatar. In this role, you will be responsible for keeping the school’s financial records accurate and up to date while supporting day-to-day accounting operations and reporting needs.
Key duties
- Handle accounts payable and receivable activities.
- Prepare, review, and process invoices and payments.
- Complete bank reconciliations and maintain accurate ledger records.
- Support monthly payroll preparation.
- Compile monthly and annual financial statements and reports.
- Track budgets and assist with financial monitoring.
- Contribute to audit preparation and ongoing audit support.
- Help ensure adherence to school policies and applicable regulations.
- Provide financial insights and analysis to guide decision-making.
- Work with internal teams and respond to finance-related queries.
- Support fee billing and collection activities.
- Look for ways to improve finance processes, controls, and procedures.
Qualifications and requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required; professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, or CIMA are considered an advantage.
- This role is for a local hire in Qatar with a valid QID.
- You should bring strong bookkeeping and accounting experience, including general ledger handling, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Working knowledge of accounting systems and strong MS Excel skills are essential, along with the ability to interpret data and build clear summaries and dashboards.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow management in an educational or similar service-oriented environment is needed.
- You must understand financial regulations, audit processes, and internal control practices.
- Attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and strong organization and time management are important.
- Good communication and teamwork skills are required for working with academic, administrative, and external stakeholders.
- Prior experience in school finance or the education sector is highly preferred, especially in international or multicultural settings.
- You must be able to work on-site in Doha and maintain a high standard of ethics and professionalism in a fast-paced school environment.
