Role Overview
The Senior Manager of Solutions Architecture for Australia & New Zealand (ANZ) leads a distributed team of Solutions Architects working closely with customers in the region. This hybrid leadership and hands-on role involves directing technical strategies during complex sales cycles, collaborating with multiple departments, and fostering team growth to ensure impactful customer engagements and organizational scalability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of intermediate and senior Solutions Architects across the ANZ region, ensuring clear guidance and effective execution.
- Participate directly in high-value sales opportunities, building executive relationships and supporting complex sales to achieve technical success.
- Develop and oversee regional strategies for technical assessments, workshops, demonstrations, and proof-of-concepts that align with customer business objectives.
- Collaborate with global Solutions Architecture, Sales, Channel, Marketing, Enablement, and Product Management teams to coordinate priorities and regional execution.
- Manage relationships with Channel Solutions Architects and subject matter experts to drive collaboration and accountability.
- Maintain strong operational processes including workload and resource planning, headcount management, and opportunity forecasting.
- Define performance metrics for the team and communicate status, risks, and priorities to stakeholders.
- Recruit, develop, and retain talented Solutions Architects while fostering innovation and building scalable organizational capacity.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience managing technical teams in software or technology sales, pre-sales, or consulting within the ANZ market.
- Strong expertise in solution architecture or related fields, with the ability to connect technical solutions to business value and quickly learn GitLab’s platform.
- Success in expanding and mentoring Solutions Architecture or comparable customer-facing technical teams.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for engaging diverse technical and business audiences across cultures.
- Business acumen with an ability to balance technical excellence and commercial goals aligned with regional priorities.
- Experience influencing cross-functional teams and establishing strong partnerships across various departments.
- Demonstrated ability to build inclusive, high-performance teams, and develop clear operating procedures in remote environments.
- Willingness and ability to travel as per business requirements and company travel policies.
