About the Role
We represent a prominent international power generation company managing significant energy assets throughout Europe. They are currently looking for a skilled Maintenance & Engineering Manager to oversee operations at a combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power station in County Galway.
This is a senior leadership position based on-site, responsible for ensuring plant reliability, maintaining asset integrity, directing maintenance strategies, upholding technical standards, and leading a diverse engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and mentor a multidisciplinary group of engineers and maintenance technicians.
- Develop and implement the site's maintenance and engineering strategies to maintain high plant availability and dependability.
- Create and maintain preventative and predictive maintenance schedules and procedures.
- Provide expert technical oversight for systems including gas turbines, steam turbines, and boilers.
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of major plant shutdowns and outages.
- Ensure asset integrity and lifecycle management of vital plant infrastructure.
- Manage engineering and maintenance subcontractors, handling their selection, performance, and commercial aspects.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory standards, such as the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR).
- Champion a strong culture of health, safety, and environmental and process safety within the engineering function.
- Oversee engineering budgets, control costs, and report on variances.
- Develop and administer training, accreditation, and competency programs for technicians.
- Identify opportunities to enhance plant efficiency, reliability, and overall operational performance.
Candidate Profile
- Possession of an engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of five years’ relevant experience in engineering or maintenance, preferably within power generation, energy, or heavy/process industries.
- Proven leadership experience managing multi-disciplinary maintenance or engineering teams.
- Strong expertise in asset management, reliability engineering, and maintenance strategies.
- Experience overseeing contractors, managing budgets, and delivering major maintenance initiatives.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance frameworks, including PSSR and process safety standards.
- In-depth technical knowledge of complex industrial plants and rotating/process machinery.
- Excellent leadership capabilities, communication skills, and aptitude for stakeholder engagement.
