About the Role

Parsons is seeking a seasoned Senior Fire and Life Safety Engineer specialized in theme park and entertainment to join our team in Doha. This role involves close participation with the Construction Supervision Consultant team in delivering a prestigious luxury hospitality and entertainment complex, boasting immersive experiences, world-class services, premium retail, and varied leisure attractions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee the construction, installation, testing, certification, and commissioning of fire protection and safety systems, ensuring full compliance with contract documents, approved engineering strategies, relevant codes, and Civil Defense regulations.
  • Supervise contractor fire and life safety tasks, verifying adherence to quality standards, prescribed construction methods, project timelines, and health and safety protocols.
  • Review technical documents including shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, RFIs, and inspection requests pertaining to fire safety systems, providing detailed technical feedback.
  • Manage the installation and integration of various fire safety components such as detection and alarm systems, sprinkler and suppression systems, smoke management, emergency lighting, fire pumps, hydrant systems, and gaseous suppression systems.
  • Offer expert oversight specific to themed entertainment venues, indoor attractions, ride facilities, entertainment spaces, and high-occupancy public zones.
  • Coordinate fire and life safety system interfaces with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, ICT, security, ride, show, building management systems, and specialized attraction vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with design provisions for exit routes, compartmentation, fire stopping, smoke control, occupant evacuation, emergency access, and passive fire protection installations.
  • Attend and witness inspections and tests such as integrated systems, fire alarm cause-and-effect, smoke control, functional and commissioning tests.
  • Liaise with Civil Defense authorities, fire consultants, operators, and commissioning agents during inspections and certifications supporting operational readiness and occupancy approval.
  • Conduct frequent on-site quality inspections, identify deviations, and coordinate remediation with contractors and QA/QC teams.
  • Support evaluations regarding variations, technical issues, clarifications, and site instructions dealing with fire protection systems alongside the Resident Engineer.
  • Take part in snagging, de-snagging, substantial completion, handover, and Defects Liability Period inspections.
  • Review and verify as-built drawings, operation manuals, test records, commissioning documentation, warranties, and handover documents for accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare thorough technical reports, inspection documentation, progress updates, and recommendations for submission to the Resident Engineer and Project Management.

Professional and Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Preferably holds professional certifications like Professional Engineer, Chartered Engineer, or Certified Fire Protection Specialist.
  • A minimum of 12 years supervising fire and life safety systems in hospitality, entertainment, mixed-use, or destination-scale projects.
  • Experience in construction supervision or resident engineering on large-scale, multidisciplinary developments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in fire and life safety systems for large public assembly buildings, theme parks, integrated resorts, and other complex venues.
  • Strong command of fire engineering principles, including smoke management, detection and suppression systems, evacuation, and integrated life safety.
  • Hands-on involvement with integrated systems testing, commissioning, operational readiness, and project handover stages.
  • Previous experience with GCC Civil Defense coordination is advantageous.

  • Extensive familiarity with safety requirements specific to themed attractions, indoor public venues, and high-occupancy facilities.
  • Insight into crowd dynamics, evacuation planning, emergency response, systems testing, and operational delivery.
  • Adeptness in managing multidisciplinary stakeholder coordination including contractors, fire consultants, attraction and equipment vendors, authorities, and commissioning teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify risks, conflicts, and on-site solutions.
  • Excellent communication and reporting capabilities.
  • Ability to interpret fire engineering dossiers, drawings, technical specs, commissioning and operational manuals.
  • Capability to manage multiple project fronts while emphasizing quality, safety, and compliance.
  • Proven success working in large multidisciplinary construction environments focusing on life safety, readiness, approval, and project delivery.
