Description de l'emploi
About the company
Xenon7 connects high-caliber technology professionals with ambitious enterprises and fast-growing startups working on advanced projects across data, web, infrastructure, AI, and related IT fields. The team focuses on delivering tailored IT solutions and flexible expert resources that help clients drive innovation and growth.
The organization is also building a select community of outstanding AI and ML specialists who want to tackle practical problems and help shape the future of intelligent systems.
Role overview
This opportunity is for a senior-level data scientist to help design a document intelligence and discovery platform. The work combines generative AI, machine learning, and cheminformatics to turn scanned PDF files with complex chemical structures into searchable, interpretable, and useful knowledge repositories.
The assignment is based remotely within Europe (CET), runs for 2 months, and is structured as a B2B contract. The expected experience level is 5+ years, and the client is looking for someone who can start immediately.
Key responsibilities
- Create advanced document intelligence workflows using machine learning and deep learning to identify, extract, and interpret text plus intricate chemical structures from scanned, unstructured PDFs.
- Build and tune LLM-powered solutions, including vector database-based search and retrieval systems for semantic search, data interpretation, and retrieval-augmented generation.
- Manage the full machine learning lifecycle, from chemical-data and OCR-focused preprocessing through training, validation, deployment, and ongoing monitoring.
- Use chemistry and cheminformatics knowledge to convert molecular diagrams and scientific data into machine-readable representations, embeddings, and actionable outputs.
- Develop and deploy scalable AI/ML systems on AWS with an emphasis on reliability, security, performance, and production readiness.
- Work closely with software engineers, data engineers, and subject-matter experts to embed ML capabilities into the product and support business objectives.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience as a data scientist, with evidence of shipping machine learning models into production.
- Strong academic or professional grounding in chemistry, cheminformatics, or a closely related scientific discipline, with the ability to work with complex chemical structures and data.
- Advanced programming skills in Python and practical experience with AWS services such as SageMaker, Lambda, S3, and EC2.
- Hands-on exposure to LLMs, including fine-tuning, prompt design, or API-based integration, along with vector databases such as Pinecone, Milvus, Weaviate, or Qdrant.
- Solid experience using ML/DL frameworks and tooling such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Scikit-Learn for development, validation, deployment, and evaluation.
- Prior work in computer vision, OCR, or document AI is a strong advantage because of the scanned-PDF nature of the project.
- Excellent analytical thinking, communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional technical environment.
Benefits
- Access to a broad ecosystem of opportunities, including client work, research collaboration, mentorship, and thought leadership paths.
- A collaborative culture centered on openness, continuous learning, and engineering excellence.
- Flexible, outcome-oriented work with autonomy, ownership, and room for curiosity rather than fixed-hour oversight.
- Opportunities to contribute to an innovation community where members can help launch projects, build tools, and influence AI development.
