Job description
Overview
The Senior Customer Portfolio Manager is accountable for nurturing customer relationships and achieving financial as well as operational targets for the Gas Power Services division in Sub-Saharan Africa. This independent role involves managing long-term service agreements, collaborating closely with customers on-site, and ensuring delivery of high-quality solutions including new products, outage planning, and parts management through project oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of Long-Term Service Agreements (LTSA) and related service contracts.
- Hold P&L accountability for designated contracts, continually managing contract profitability and costs.
- Implement strategies to enhance contract margins by monitoring revenue recognition and cost controls.
- Identify prospects for additional services, upgrades, and contract scope expansions.
- Collaborate with engineering, field service, parts supply, and outage teams to guarantee effective service delivery.
- Track key performance metrics such as unit availability, reliability, and heat rate.
- Serve as the main customer contact for operational and contractual matters.
- Support customers through planned and unexpected unit outages, establishing strong internal partnerships to deliver superior services.
- Maintain comprehensive records of unit operation and parts lifespan using commercial software.
- Keep detailed inventories of installed parts per unit by model and serial number.
- Develop individualized sales plans for customers and manage maintenance parts orders, billing validation, and financial reconciliations.
- Coordinate with sales, commercial, and risk teams to pursue new business opportunities.
- Provide sales support highlighting advancements in conversions, modifications, upgrades, and upselling opportunities.
- Continuously deepen knowledge of power plant and machine-driven industry operations.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, or Power Engineering from an accredited institution.
- At least 10 years’ experience in power generation services or plant operations.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience directly involving gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, and power plant systems.
- Proven contractual, commercial, and negotiation expertise.
- At least 3 years’ project management experience.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Preferred Skills and Attributes
- Knowledge of 9E Gas Turbine, GE Steam Turbine, and Balance of Plant (BOP) systems.
- Experience handling long-term parts and service contracts.
- Direct sales experience involving customer interaction.
- Completion or equivalent experience in Contractual Services Leadership Program.
- Excellent communication and organizational capabilities.
- Strong computer literacy.
- Robust financial and business acumen.
- Effective interpersonal skills with a keen technical and commercial balance.
