Senior Courier

Position Overview

This role involves operating company vehicles to efficiently deliver and pick up packages, acting as a floater covering at least 15 different routes rather than a fixed assigned route. The Senior Courier will lead by example, mentoring hourly employees through effective communication, conflict resolution, and leadership practices. Additionally, the role promotes sales efforts to generate extra revenue whenever possible.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate delivery vehicles to pick up and drop off packages efficiently across multiple routes.
• Provide coverage for routes without an assigned regular courier.
• Serve as a role model and mentor for hourly staff utilizing best practices in communication and leadership.
• Promote company sales and identify opportunities to increase incremental revenue.

Qualifications and Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least six months of prior courier experience is necessary.
• Must hold a valid driver's license with a good driving record (Class 5, G, or 1[AZ]).
• Ability to complete and maintain Dangerous Goods (DG) certification, including yearly recurrency training.
• Capable of lifting up to 70 lbs unassisted and maneuvering packages up to 150 lbs with suitable equipment.
• Knowledge of FedEx products, services, operations, and Canadian Customs regulations is beneficial.
• Bilingualism (English and French) is mandatory if working in Quebec.
• Strong interpersonal skills including customer service, communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.

Employment Details and Conditions

• This role does not assign regular routes; coverage is based on open routes due to scheduling or absence.
• Technical competencies include proficiency in PC Windows environment and the ability to complete mandatory testing and training.
• Working hours may vary according to business requirements.
• A valid driver's license with a driving record including two or fewer violations or accidents within the past 24 months is required; candidates will be assessed on their driving record, interview performance, and any driving competency tests.
